Drupal.org Excerpt:

This module allows the administrator to change the destination of Taxonomy Term links. Note: Taxonomy redirect only uses hook_term_path (http://api.drupal.org/api/function/hook_term_path/6) to modify paths for taxonomy terms, it doesn't actually create path aliases. Amazing way to give nice URLs for taxonomy terms

Amazing way to give nice URLs for taxonomy terms, without the performance peanuly of adding a pathauto path alias for each.

Of course, the term should be redirected to a proper view.

Maybe not what you want

This module doesn't do a redirect of the taxonomy URLs, it changes the link output from the taxonomy module.
If you're looking for a redirect (from any place on your site, such as menus), have a look at path redirect (http://drupal.org/project/path_redirect) - though it admittedly only works for static paths.

Does exactly what it does, well.

This little module is a perfect companion for views, and other modules that are integrated with taxonomy. It allows you to re-direct the link from a term to any page (rather than the /taxonomy/term/tid page. It also provides complete control via a hook for those who need more than the simple interface provides. I've used this so many times now, I can't imaging getting by without it. Thank you!
