I think, this module HowToHave for most drupal-based sites. I, personnally use it, and I will advice to try it too, if you use taxonomy a lot.
But! For 5.x branch there were one great problem with pathauto - Taxonomy Menu denerated its own urls, so there were many duplications for search engines. Luckly, this problem was solwed and 5.x branch is working now like charm (I`m still using Dr.5th). But I tried 6.x branch and noticed lack of documentation - because the way of installing new menus was changed from 5th vertion and there are now TOO MANY configurations! :)
So, go to Taxonomy and install new menu from each vocabulary page. And - in most cases - you may use default settings.
Sorry my english, please, i`m not a native speaker. :)

one feature to much...
This is a great tool I am using it with nice menu module and it just awesome combo :)
But I too use pathauto module and it renames my sites URL`s but this module renames it to... and you see I just don`t need this feature... maybe you could say me how to disable it? I would appreciate your help.

the 6.x vertision has some bugs
This module adds a great feature, to automatically create a menu based on taxonomy terms. It is beautiful to see how the term I had created became a nice little menu with exactly the same structure as in the vocabulary.
There are not many options for this module. But they are quite straight forward and does not need too much explanation.
But it would still be nice with a little more documentation. At least a short description of each of the options and what they do.
Finally I have to point out that I am using Drupal 6.2, and in the 6.x-1.0 vertion of Taxonomy menu I ran into a bug. But there is a fix at http://drupal.org/node/245199.
