Excellent module, best option for a media player
I've just spent several days testing and researching all the various audio and video player modules available. I came to SWF Tools last because it didn't have "audio" or "video" in the title, and I wish I'd tried it first! It just works, unlike all the other modules I tested and fought with. Note that it integrates with FileField by default, which isn't mentioned on the project page.
The step-by-step installation instructions are very helpful, although I docked a point because they're not yet updated to the current version. Once I installed the players and (in the case of Flowplayer 3) the additional plugins, it was a simple matter of configuring the module (lots of options, but mostly straightforward or self-explanatory), and then choosing the player I wanted for my media filefield in CCK's display settings. And it just worked!

Out of this world!
SWFTools was great before - but 6.x-3.0-beta4 is outa this world! F-R-E - all 5+. Wow! Stuart, you've really outdone yourself. I must say, the only thing lacking is that the whole world doesn't know how unbelievably easy it is to integrate SWFTools with CCK (filefield) fields to slay the media competition - right outa the box! If you haven't played with SWFTools lately - or even if you have - I highly suggest checking it out for media projects.

once up and running, AWESOME
This module is one of my standard installs on virtually every Drupal site I set up.
This module was simple to install and SUPER-simple to use. Unlike most drupal modules, this one required an additional step after the base module install.
Using the module couldn't be simpler. Upload a file to the node, put <swf file="myfile.swf"> in the node body and it does everything for you. Easy Peasy. Love this module.
Adding in the extra embedding options required that the installer simply create a folder and put the proper .js file in that folder. On the config screen, the module even tells you that "folderX/filey.js is missing" Easy peasy. Put the .js file in the folder and BLAM! You're almost set. Add the swf tools option to the input format and BOOM! You're totally set.

Great idea for a module, but I've never gotten it to work fully
I've taken three time-consuming stabs at getting this module to work, on two different platforms (OS X and Linux), and each time the eccentricities of configuration have cost me a great deal of time while peculiar bugs have ended up making it unable to perform the task I hoped to apply it to. FWIW, it looks very much as though the current maintainers are struggling with an overly-complex architecture. I gather it's slated to be completely re-written for D7.I give it a '3' for documentation because the documentation is pretty thorough; but I can't speak to its accuracy because I've never gotten the module to really truly work. For all the others, I give it the lowest rating, again because I can't personally attest that any of the promise is fulfilled. From my perspective, the wide set of features might as well not exist -- they don't really exist for me, because I can't access them. There really doesn't seem to be any other game in town, though, for embedding flash-based players with the option to configure them. I suggest you try it but not waste much more time on it if you can't get it to work out of the gate.

Swiss knife for Flash video
I tried other modules for implementing Flash video, that claimed simplicity, ease-of-use and functioanlity. Like: FLV Media Player, Video, Flash Node and Flash Video.
Most probably I am the cause of the problems, because I'm still new to Drupal and don't have any knowledge of PHP.
But the fact of the matter is that SWF Tools was the only solution that WORKED and had the best step-by-step documentation!
