Signatures that now can ROCK!

Boy did I have a difficult time stumbling across this module. Having come from LinuxQuestions.org, where I keep a signature that I really like, and having standard signatures that I paste when joining PhpBB sites and others, I found the standard signatures setup within Drupal to be extremely restrictive.

The simplest thing for me, and really, the only thing I was actually looking for, was to extend the default length of my signature.

I hadn't even begun to address the issues of signatures that change over a period of time, and how obsolete signatures might still find their way into search engines or remain in the archives of Drupal forums.

while I was looking for hacks for the core code, I stumbled across a couple of posts that dealt with the second issue - so I read on.

I installed the module, and adjusted the number of lines (This module doesn't set signature length by the number of characters, but rather, the number of lines), and voila! I was now able to paste my signature into my profile.

The added bonus is that my signature is updated everywhere it exists when I change it, a great plus, although that wasn't the issue I was trying to tackle.

I gave this module low marks on the docs, since it's merely a basic README.txt file, ample enough to let you know where to go and what to do/make sure of, but it didn't address some of the more obscure features of "Signatures for Forums".

Like so many other modules, the admin is left to experiment to figure it out, but basically, I'm not interested in what those features do anyway, but ten more lines of comments in the readme file would have appreciated.

Even thought I have no use for things like minimum post length adjustments and such, I only gave four stars for usability since these items weren't discussed in the readme file.

Basically, this module ROCKs!, is totally kewl, and is now part of my standard module toolkit for any new installs.
