Does what it says - PrivateMsg 6.x-2.x
More features than i need - but simple and straightforward to implement. No agro!
In some ways i am giving it higher marks than it may deserve just to counteract the previous reviews, which may have been base on old code - i don't know, since none of them reference the module version?!?
Additional documentation at:
drupal.org/handbook/modules/privatemsgdrupalmodules.com/module/privatemsg, but ALL module releases should really include README.txt

D5 Review
I havent gotten the D6 up and running with full support, but it looks like it will take over my need to allow users to directly email each other, and provides much needed features.
As far as the other reviews, I am not certain why people had problems. I can see that there version doesnt support translations. I can not say what version this is, and I can not attest to this feature since I barely speak English (I have a harder time reading it).
But I can tell you that I have used this for a long time without issue. I never thought to review it because I would never think of it. Its one of thoose modules you set up and forget about. To me thats a good sign!
I can also say that I know a large number of people use this module without issue. I truly believe no one thinks to review it positively, because you enable it and forget about it! Which is what a good module should do!
I must say that it is almost to feature packed. I do not want or need folders. I honestly forget if I could disable this feature or not. Like I said, I installed it and that was the end of it.

Very raw module
So great name, but so pure in real.
Structure of module very unlogic, no helping functions, no documentation, NO TRANSLATION (many strings outputs directly, without t() function!!!).
Module written like dirty extension for Joomla. Very bad.

Bright Future Ahead
Sounds like a good bet... I remindes my of the message module in some very popular social network web sites (Hi5 por instance)... Let's see it grow!!
