Excellent - saved days, weeks, months... :-) of my life!

This module is simply great. I agree that it should be in core. Thanks!

Great module for modifying what menus are visible and removing the admin menu option

This module should be in Core and enabled at the start to hide the admin menu.

It basically lets you edit each content type (Page, Story, Image, etc.) and specify what menu options should be available from each, so if all your Pages go in the Primary Links, only enable this for Pages, if you don't want an Image to be able to be linked to from any page, you can also disable all the Menu options when adding an Image node.

The other useful thing it does (which is why I think it should be included as a Drupal core module) is that it allows you to disable the Admin menu from any content type, so that you're only presented with a list of menu options the end user actually sees when you're creating a new item of content.
