Using this, along with a few other modules, for a client's site and it really was simple to achieve everything that I want to (so far). Dates are very important for my client's site/app, so I was relieved that this worked without the usual headaches I seem to get from drupal modules.
That module is almost always a need for my projects. The API part is really powerful and saved me a lot of work when I was dealing with some complex operations.
But they are downsides, I would NOT recommend the date browser (for Views) and as you might see in the issue queue, they are a lot of bugs.
However, still a great module.
As we all know, date manipulation in multi time zone environments is complicated stuff.
This module is very well designed. A must have if you use CCK.
It works. It's well documented. It plays well together with other modules like views making it very powerfull. Some aditional nice2have features would be great (like support of maximum/minimum date) and time zone handling / unix timestamps etc. can be confusing.
