Drupal.org Excerpt:

The Bio module allows each user to create one (and only one) "bio" node. Any node-type can be assigned as the bio or Bio module can provide its own node type. Bio is easy to install and customize

I wanted users to first register, then be admin-promoted to a specific user-type, whereupon they could create a special participant profile. I needed the profile information to then be available to Views/CCK.

I searched around recommendations at Drupal Groups: Profiles as Nodes, and installed and tested the Node Profile module.

Bio is much easier to install, and if you're only using one profile type, it's a perfect solution. Node Profile on the other hand may have potential for more complex applications- but the initial set up is fairly complex.

Documentation is brief, clear and sufficient. Much of the documentation appears in use.

One thing to note is, It does make a "Biography" content type, however, you can create your own custom content type to associate. Very flexible.

Thumbs up!
